ABOUT EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMAL REGISTRY UK

Founded in 2018 and starting registrations in 2019, the Emotional Support Animals Registry is a private registry (based in the USA) that was established in the UK with a core mission: to empower individuals to lead ordinary lives by having their ESA companions by their side in public spaces and accommodations. As the premier ESA Registry in the UK, ESA UK boasts an extensive network of thousands of registered ESAs across the United Kingdom. Our commitment is evident through our remarkable 96% ESA registration renewal rate, a testament to the satisfaction of our valued members.

In the United Kingdom, Emotional Support Animals lack the same legal rights as trained service and assistance animals and as such we, we've been actively engaged in discussions with various Government departments and officials since our inception, advocating for equal rights for ESAs. Our advocacy has led to significant progress, and many Universities and Councils now require ESA UK registration for accommodation, a reflection of our status as the gold standard in ESA registration.

While Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) do not have the same legal rights as service animals, they serve as vital medical aids for individuals with hidden disabilities. In the United Kingdom, individuals with hidden disabilities who require the assistance of an ESA are protected under various laws to ensure they are not discriminated against. Under UK laws, including the Equality Act 2010 and the Mental Health Act 1983, individuals with hidden disabilities are safeguarded against discrimination. These laws recognize the importance of accommodating individuals with disabilities and ensuring they have equal access to services and opportunities. While ESAs may not have the same legal status as service animals, they play a crucial role in providing support and alleviating symptoms associated with hidden disabilities. Just like a mobility scooter aids individuals with physical disabilities, ESAs serve as companions and provide emotional support to individuals with hidden disabilities. Therefore, discriminating against individuals with ESAs as a medical aid is prohibited under UK laws. Any act of discrimination against individuals with hidden disabilities who rely on ESAs may constitute a violation of their rights and could lead to legal consequences. It is essential for businesses, landlords, and service providers to recognize the legitimacy of ESAs as medical aids and to ensure that individuals with hidden disabilities are treated with dignity and respect. By understanding and complying with UK laws protecting individuals with hidden disabilities and their ESAs, we can create a more inclusive and supportive society for all.

Operated by dedicated volunteers, ESA UK prioritizes quality and credibility. A substantial portion of the registration fee is allocated to our trusted printing partners which are paid full commercial rates with sales taxes, ensuring high-quality ESA ID Cards, Certificates, Certification Letters, Keyrings and Badges. To maintain the integrity of our process, a medical company carefully reviews the submitted letters and the corresponding medical professionals. The remaining portion of the fee is allocated to essential backend operations, including server maintenance and web hosting.

ESA UK is entirely self-funded, with no financial support from the UK Government or any external donations. Our revenue exclusively comes from ESA Registrations and Renewals. ESA Registration is conveniently available through our EU, USA, CA, and AU platforms, catering to a wider audience seeking our trusted services. We do not have an office or staff in the UK, or any facilities to keep cost at a minimum, and the main office is in the USA.
