ESA Registration is not for those that want their pets with them all the time, it is for those that require an ESA for their medical health. Having an ESA does not give the handler a right to not follow rules, regulations and laws in their area as currently in the United Kingdom all health laws over rule any use of an Emotional Support Animal in businesses.

ESA UK requires a letter from a medical professional which states the animal is required for your mental health. Currently due to the after effects of Covid access to a medical professional is still limited, the required medical letter can be sent after registration within a designated time period. All animals may qualify as Emotional Support Animals and they can be any age, as these animals do not need any specific task-training because their very presence alleviates the symptoms associated with a person's psychological/emotional disability, unlike a working service dog or therapy dog. The only requirement is that the animal is fully under control in public and does not create a nuisance in or around the domestic environment. We suggest all ESA registrations obtain Public Liability Insurance in case of accidents.

DISCRIMINATION IS ILLEGAL IN THE UK

An Emotional Support Animal Handler due to their mental health diagnosis, has all the legal rights not be discriminated against for access to businesses, accommodation and travel (does not cover ESA in planes), due to the handler's mental health medical diagnosis and hidden disability under the Equality Act 2010, Mental Health Act 1983, the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, and as such has protection under the Equality Act 2010, the Human Rights Act 1998 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
