COVID-19 We are still operating during this Covid-19 UK wide lockdown. We understand how difficult it is currently to get a confirmation letter from a health professional during this Covid-19 UK wide lockdown, so during this time you can register your ESA without the required letter and then after the lockdown has finished you can see a health professional and then send us a copy of the letter and health professional details as required by the registration of an ESA in the UK. (register here now) - we are planning to go back to medical information required when registering as the Covid-19 crisis winds down and medical professionals are again accessible. |
An emotional support animal (ESA) is a pet that is required for a person's ongoing mental health treatment by a licensed therapist, psychologist, doctor (GP) or any licensed mental health professional, as part of their ongoing treatment program that it is designed to bring comfort and minimize the negative symptoms the person's emotional or psychological disability. All domesticated animals may qualify as Emotional Support Animals and they can be any age, as these animals do not need any specific task-training like a service/assistance animal because their very presence alleviates the symptoms associated with a personal psychological or emotional disability and the only requirement is that the animal is fully under control in public and does not create a nuisance in or around the domestic environment. ESAUK Registration has helped hundreds and hundreds of people with having their ESA with them in accommodation (university, private, council), out shopping and being able to live again with their companion at their side when out in public.
The Emotional Support Animals UK Registry was established in late 2017 to register emotional support animals in the United Kingdom to help people be able to go out in public with their support animal and to help change the current UK laws so ESAs have the same legal rights as service & assistance animals by using the data collected from the registrations in the United Kingdom in the discussions with the UK Government so Emotional Support Animals do have the same legal rights as service & assistance animals. ESAUK is the number one Emotional support Animals UK & EU Registry with currently over 2,000 registered ESAs across the United Kingdom and thousands more across the European Union with a renewal registration rate of 96%. We are self funded with our registration & renewals and take no funds from any government organization, or donations and we are not a charity.

All domesticated animals may qualify as Emotional Support Animals (cats and dogs) and they can be any age (young puppies and kittens, too!), as these animals do not need any specific task-training because their very presence alleviates the symptoms associated with a person’s psychological/emotional disability, unlike a working service dog or therapy dog. The only requirement is that the animal is fully under control in public and does not create a nuisance in or around the domestic environment. REGISTER HERE
